David Banker Jazz Collective
Queens native, David Banker is a trombonist and composer whose music has captivated audiences throughout New York City. David earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam College. At the age of 23, he started working for the New York City Department of Education, while continuing to perform regularly.
He went on to receive a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from New York University, where he had the opportunity to study with some of the leading artists in the field, including Grammy-nominated Alan Ferber, Dave Pietro, Steffon Harris, and Elliot Mason just to name a few. During his time at NYU, David had the privilege of playing and recording with some of the most respected names in jazz, such as Rich Perry, Lenny Pickett, and Alex Sipiagin.
David is a sought-after performer in the NYC music scene, playing regularly with The Manhattan Player's Club, wedding bands and other freelance work. In 2016, he released his debut album, "Downtown Bound," written for the International Ensemble. Currently, David works for the libraries at Columbia University, where he continues to share his love of music which extends beyond the stage.
